Dear Sir
Mount Vernon 23 Jany 1803
Dear Sir
I send to town today principally on account of the order on the Cashier of the Bank, which I omitted to send you sooner— It is now enclosed.
I have Just finished posting my accounts and not being able to make yours close without debiting myself with a balance of $80 I had taken a memdm to make some enquiries of you respecting it. Your letter which I received in Connecticut induced me to suppose that you had recieved mony enough from Mr Moncure to take up my notes, but this did not appear from his accounts. It was this Circumstance which produced the difficulty— It is now explained, & the $80 is enclosed. I should also send you $22.50 my proportion of the fees due you Mr Lee & Mr Swan if I had bills of the proper amount— I will pay it however when I come to town & shall in the meantime speak to Mr Lewis about the proportion due from the Executors. I am dear Sir Sincerely yrs
