Robert Morris (1734–1806)
Morris was an acquaintance of Bushrod Washington.
Robert Morris, a Founding Father and signer of the Declaration of Independence known as the "Financier of the American Revolution," was born on 20 January 1734 in Liverpool, England. He immigrated to Maryland at thirteen and apprenticed with a Philadelphia merchant. By the age of twenty he was a partner in the firm, the start of a lucrative mercantile career. In 1769 he married Mary White (1749–1827); their seven children would include a U.S. representative.
